You're Never Too Old for High-Speed

Had to post this. It reminds me of what's going on with my father. He's retirement age, although he still works outside the home. But he's recently gotten high-speed Internet for the first time. He's been using some terrible dial-up company for years.

Suddenly, a whole world of online possibilities has opened up to him, both good and bad. I'm proud of him for rolling with the times though.

How are Your Children Like a Garden?

I came across this great article today by HappyNews columnist Craig Harris. It's Parenting Lessons from Gardening, and it really struck a chord with me. He uses gardening as a metaphor for parenting, and points out the very really similarities between the two.

Most importantly, he reminds us that a neglected garden will be choked by weeds, just as our children can be pulled down by bad influences. This is especially crucial as children enter adolescence. Take the time to read it. It will be time well spent.
