I do a little playing around, maybe crochet a granny square, and I'm done. I sit it down somewhere, move it around over the next few months from the couch to the kitchen to the bookcase in my room, until eventually it gets put away somewhere, and I forget it completely.
But what if I actually did something with the yarn and hook, actually crocheted an afghan? Or better yet, stop running out once a year to buy something, but then fail to make use of it?
The Simple Dollar has written a great piece on just this subject. It's Creation Versus Consumption. And it really got me thinking. Have a read and ask yourself: what are the things I buy over and over, then fail to use?
