Suze Orman's Save Yourself Plan for Readers of Women and Money

As part of Suze Orman's Save Yourself Plan, a movement she hopes will become national, TD Ameritrade is making a special offer just for the readers of her recent book Women and Money. Here are the details from the book: "If you agree to open a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade in your name and commit to an automatic deposit of at least $50 per month for 12 consecutive months, TD Ameritrade will provide the incentive in the form of a $100 contribution into your account, to be made after your twelfth deposit."

This is in addition to the interest you will also be earning on the account. The money will be held in an FDIC-insured money market account at a competitive interest rate. Plus, there are no maintenance or annual fees. Here's what you do:

Go to www.saveyourself.com between 2/27/08 and 3/31/08 and enter the code 701. This will lead to a page with a link to open a non-retirement account. Arrange for a direct deposit of $50 per month for 12 consecutive months, with the first deposit occurring within 30 days of the account being opened.

If you need to withdraw the money in the account before the year is up, you may withdraw your deposits plus any interest. But you forfeit the $100 incentive TD Ameritrade is offering. It sounds like a great deal and a super way to get started saving for yourself. Check it out!
