The 7 Characteristics of Super Moms

Are you a Super Mom? I think I am. I'm not a great housekeeper. I'm not a great cook. But I do think I'm a Super Mom. Here are 10 characteristics of a Super Mom. A Super Mom:
  • Doesn't try to be her kids' friend. Yes, she listens. Yes, she can have fun with her kids. But there's a clear line. And the bottom line is: she's a parent.
  • Doesn't live vicariously through her children. She lets them find their own interests and pursuits, and encourages them wherever possible.
  • Doesn't expect perfection from herself, which is good, because it's impossible to achieve.
  • Doesn't withhold love, even when her kids are being rotten. She lets them know that although she's very unhappy with their actions, she still loves them, and that's never going to change.
  • Listens to her children and allows them to express themselves, even when their views don't jibe with her own.
  • Doesn't spoil her kids with material possessions (no chance of that here). She also teaches her kids to be generous and not obsess over debts owed to them. After all, it is only money. And people are more important than money.
  • Doesn't quit on her kids, no matter what. It's not even an option. And her kids, realizing that Mom's in it for the long haul, will not stray too far off course.
