It seems like every day, I'm hearing another item on the news about yet another company trimming its work rolls. Unemployment has skyrocketed, and at the worst possible time, as we're going through the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. Many newly jobless people are wondering: "What next? If no one's hiring, what can I do to keep from sinking?"
One way of beating this economic crisis is to take your destiny into your own hands. Be your own boss. Make your own decisions and your own fortune. After my husband and I separated seven years ago, I had to make a decision. I could go out and get a full-time job working outside the home, or I could create my own business and be available to my children during this stressful time.
I chose to start my own online used book business, and I supported myself and my kids for about five years with it. (See posts below, if you're interested).
Now may be the perfect time for you to start your own business. I found a great article at Wise Bread on this subject. It's The Entrepreneurial Spirit and the Economic Crunch. Have a read and let me know what you think.
