Do You Plan for Your Wants?

When it comes to buying "wants," it seems to me there are three types of people: the ones who buy everything they want, the very minute they think of it, those that never buy anything they want, and those who plan for things they want and work towards being able to afford them.

I would say in the past seven or eight years, I've definitely been one of those who never buys anything that I want (or very rarely).  But I've decided that's not healthy either.  Rather, I'd like to be someone who plans for my wants and, when I reach my monetary goal, buys them.

So I've started making a list of my wants.  Some of them are also needs.  And as I work hard to pay bills, put food on the table, and save money, I'll also, on a regular basis, take some of my money and put it towards the things on my "wants" list.  I work hard.  I deserve it.  Philip Brewer of Wise Bread has written a great article on this subject.  It's Plan for Your Wants.  Check it out!
