A Work at Home Mom's New Year's Resolutions

Well, the New Year swiftly approaches, and it's that time again, time to look back on the old year and look forward to the new one.  Last year started off a little rough, financially, but ended well.  So I'm hoping for a continuation of that trend.

Here are my New Year's resolutions as a work-at-home mom:

#1, and most important, I want to work less and enjoy life more.  I spend way too much time with my face in a computer monitor and my hands on a keyboard.  I need a life.

#2 I HAVE to get organized, for my own sanity.  Clutter on your desk is really clutter on your brain, and I have to do something about it.

#3 I need to start working on a schedule.  Right now, I work whenever I find the time, often late, late, late at night, which has caused me to completely mess up my body's natural time clock.  I often stay up 'til 3:00 a.m., sleep a couple of hours, at most, get up at 6:00 a.m. and see my kids off to school, then go back to sleep around 8:00 a.m. and sleep 'til noon.  Part of this is due to insomnia, but most of it is due to just plain staying up too late working.

#4 I want to work smarter, not harder.  I need to find more efficient ways to do my work, tools that will help me streamline.

#5 I want to eat better, start exercising, and lose weight.  Sitting at a desk all day has not been beneficial to my shape or health.  I know it's the biggest New Year's cliche in existence, but it's one of my resolutions.  I need to do it for me and for my kids.

#6 I will get paid what I'm worth.  I will speak up and ask for adequate compensation for my work and time.  This will also work towards helping me achieve #1 and #4.

So there they are, my New Year's resolutions for 2009.  I  hope I'll be able to look back at the end of 2009 and say I definitely made progress on each of these goals.  How about you?  What are your New Year's resolutions?
